About National Institute of Design Entrance Exam (NID 2021)

NID 2021 entrance exam will be conducted every year by the National Institute of Design. Through this entrance exam, the admissions are offered in Bachelor of Design (B.Des.), Masters of Design (M.Des.) and PhD in Design. The exam is conducted as prelims and mains. Admission will be provided at NID situated in Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Kurukshetra, Vijayawada and Bangalore. NID DAT 2021 comprises two stages - preliminary and the main exam which will be conducted tentatively in the last week of December 2020 and last week of April 2021. However, to appear in the NID DAT mains exam, candidates are required to clear the prelims exam. More or less 5000 candidates appeared in the previous NID DAT exam for appx 125 seats of eight B.Des programmes at NID Ahmedabad.

NID 2021 Eligibility

Candidates who are seeking admission in B.Des at National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad must check the eligibility criteria of NID DAT 2021. The eligibility criteria are the set of parameters which aspirants must fulfil to apply for the admission. Candidates are advised to go through the prescribed NID DAT eligibility criteria 2021 before filling the application form to check whether they are eligible or not. Candidates must ensure that they have fulfilled the key criteria to appear in the DAT entrance exam. The design aptitude test (DAT) is conducted to offer admission to qualified candidates in National Institute of Design (NID). NID DAT is held in two stages - Prelims and Mains exam. Aspirants will be offered admission based on the performance in the selection procedure. The specified NID DAT 2021 eligibility criteria include the qualification requirement, age limit, etc.

B.Des
Age Criteria
  • Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category candidates born on or after 1 July 2001 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category candidates born on or after 1 July 1996 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category candidates born on or after 1 July 2001 are eligible to apply for admission
Qualification
  • Candidates who have passed or will appear in 10+2 in qualifying examination in the academic year are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates should have passed in subjects such as science, arts, commerce, humanities, etc.
M.Des
Age Criteria
  • Indian Nationals in General Category & General EWS Category candidates born on or after 1 July 1991 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates born on or after 1 July 1988 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • Indian Nationals in Person with Disabilities (PwD) Reserved Category candidates born on or after 1 July 1986 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category candidates born on or after 1 July 19901 are eligible to apply for admission.
Qualification
  • Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree of minimum four years/Bachelor’s degree of 3 years in any stream/Full time diploma of minimum 4 years of duration in design/ fine arts/ applied arts/ architecture after 12th level to be eligible.
  • The last date for submitting the provisional/graduation certificate will be till June 2021.

Documents Required for Exam

Candidates are required to carry One photo Id proof for candidate identity verification. Documents at the time of registration:

  • College Identity Card
  • Passport

NID 2021 Admit Card

National Institute of Design (NID) will release the admit card of the NID DAT 2021 for the prelims and mains exam in the third week of December 2020 and second week of April 2021 respectively in online mode. However the hall ticket of the mains exam will be provided to the candidates who qualify the B.Des prelims exam. Candidates can download the NID DAT 2021 admit card by entering the credential details. The NID DAT admit card 2021 will include the details such as candidates name, roll number, date & time of the exam and address of the exam centre. Aspirants will have to carry the admit card to the NID DAT exam centres without fail along with a valid identity card. None of the candidates will be allowed to enter the examination hall without the NID DAT 2021 admit card. The entrance exam of NID DAT exam will be conducted in offline mode. Procedure to download the NID DAT admit card 2021

The admit card of the NID DAT will be released twice for prelims and mains exam. Candidates must not that the authority will not send the hall ticket individual to the candidates through post. Candidates must download the NID DAT 2021 admit card from the official website. Aspirants can go through the following steps to download the admit card in one go.

  • Step 1: Visit the official website - admissions.nid.edu
  • Step 2: Enter the credentials details and captcha in the login window to download the admit card of NID DAT 2021
  • Step 3: Aspirants will be able to see the guidelines related to the admit card on the screen
  • Step 4: Candidates must read the guidelines thoroughly and click on the ‘Declaration’ and then click on the button ‘Proceed to download admit card’
  • Step 5: Click on the button ‘Submit’
  • Step 6: NID DAT 2021 admit card will be displayed on the screen. Aspirants must check the information mentioned on the admit card of NID DAT.
  • Step 7: Download the NID DAT 2021 admit card and take a print out of the same in an A4 size paper

NID 2021 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of NID DAT 2021 will be a guide map to the candidate during the preparation for the exam. NID 2021 Syllabus

The syllabus will be consisting of various topics such as Creativity, Comprehension, Knowledge and Visualization, Drawing Skills, Memory Drawing, General Mental Ability, etc.

For Studio Test, the syllabus will be comprised of the topics such as 3D Modeling, Body Language, Observation Test, Portfolio making, Creative Thinking, etc

NID 2021 Exam Centers

The first stage of NID DAT 2021 prelims will be held across 21 cities in India. NID DAT Exam Centres for Prelims are Ahmedabad, Vijaywada, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Bhopal, Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar, Raipur, Chandigarh, Patna, Chennai, New Delhi, Dehradun, Nagpur, Guwahati, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kurukshetra, Kolkata.

Candidates will have to choose one centre at the time of filling the application form. The NID DAT 2021 exam centre will be allotted to applicants as per their preference mentioned in the application form. The mains will be held at any of the campuses of the NID like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Assam.
